About the Cowichan Valley
Nestled comfortably between two mid-size city markets-Victoria, with a population of 320,000 to our south and Nanaimo, population 80,000, on our north, the Cowichan is located on Vancouver Island, on Canada's west coast and in the Province of British Columbia.
Total population of the Cowichan Region is approximately 79,000. The most populated part of our 373,000-hectare region is on the eastern side and in the south-central area of Vancouver Island. It includes the incorporated communities of North Cowichan and Duncan, Chemainus, Ladysmith, and the Town of Lake Cowichan. Other communities include Cobble Hill, Cowichan Bay, Youbou, Shawnigan Lake, Mill Bay and more.
Sprinkled throughout our area are rural communities of green pastures, vineyards and forests with each area offering a lifestyle envied by the rest of North America.
